This Inventor tip illustrates how to export a face on a 3D model into AutoCAD.

Have you ever had a face on a 3D model that you wanted to export to AutoCAD? Here is how to accomplish that.

First select the face of a 3D model that you want to save/export. Right-click and select Export Face As.

In the Save Copy As dialog box, make sure Save as type is set to AutoCAD Drawing, and place the file in a convenient location. Set through Options to get the desired result, e.g., do you want model space or layout? Then click the save button.

Open the file in AutoCAD and you'll see that you now have a 2D version of the top of the basin.
