This code requires Visual LISP so works only in Auto-CAD 2000 or above. LUMBER.LSP (figure 2) and its associated files display a dialog box with common architectural lumber symbols. Unzip all files to a location on the AutoCAD search path and play around with the dialog boxes to uncover all of your options.
