Here is a helpful AutoCAD tip from Spence Watson.
“Do you have a drawing that is taking forever to save? Check the savefidelity variable. This variable should be turned on if and only if you have annotative dimensions and will be sharing the drawings with someone who uses AutoCAD 2007 or earlier. Turning off this variable can shorten save times from more than 15 minutes to a few seconds.”
Notes from Cadalyst tip reviewer R.K. McSwain: The AutoCAD documentation says that savefidelity comes into play only when saving to 2007 format and earlier, but it couldn't hurt to disable this variable unless you specifically need it turned on. For more information on savefidelity, click here.
