Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky explains a way to help manage your automatically saved files in AutoCAD.
"To be sure that you can always find those AutoCAD autosave files with the SV$ extension, create a special folder in a convenient location with a meaningful name. For example, create C:AUTOCAD AUTOSAVE FILES (on your C drive or anywhere else), then go to Options > Files > Automatic Save File Location and browse to that folder, click Apply, and close. Or set the SaveFilePath variable to that folder path."
Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: Standardize — keep this in mind when setting up AutoCAD. Create a set of standard folders in which to keep your templates, blocks, notes, files, and your autosave files. Doing so helps you know where to go when you need to see how much work you lost (or didn’t lose). |
