I’m always hitting my Save button — sometimes twice to make sure it took. Within the new File tab feature in AutoCAD, visual verification of drawing save status is displayed on the File tab with an asterisk. The asterisk indicates there are unsaved changes to the drawing. If no asterisk is displayed, the drawing is saved as is.
Other features I like about the tabs can be found when you right-click on the tab itself. Additionally, you can choose which layout to activate when switching to a drawing by simply hovering over any File tab.
Notes from Cadalyst tip reviewer R.K. McSwain: Levi points out a nice feature regarding the asterisk that might otherwise go unnoticed. Another thing to mention regarding the File tabs is that when a drawing is opened as read-only, a little lock icon will appear next to the file name.
