Douglas Lerner sent us a routine that will assist in exporting the coordinates of objects/points from an AutoCAD file.

"The routine’s name is ExportCoordinates.fas. Load the routine and type EXPORTCOORDINATES on the command line. This routine exports coordinates of picked points to a file. Coordinates are exported in decimal format at maximum precision regardless of what the drawing units or precision settings are. Beats doing a series of ID commands, then copying and pasting from the AutoCAD command window."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: Clean and simple tool. Load it, start it, name the file (and folder), and then pick the points you need. Now you can import that TXT file into a spreadsheet, GIS file, Mtext, or report. Very easy to use.

Great utility! I had a simple VB one that would prompt the user to pick points, and it would write single text entries with a spacing for all X/Y values. This saves me a step to MTEXT and copy to a file! If you are taking hints for augmentation ideas, what about being able to pick a group of points with a crossing window and export all points?
