Tipster Murray Clack shares a two-part tip on how to quickly edit individual leaders in an AutoCAD multileader object. "Independent arrowheads: If you have a multileader object with multiple leaders but want to have different types of arrowheads, you cannot use the properties manager to change the arrowhead of just one leader because the properties manager treats the multileader as a single entity. However, there is a keyboard trick to get around this. While pressing the Ctrl key, click once on the leader line containing the arrowhead you want to change. When it becomes highlighted you can go to the properties manager and override the arrowhead style. Note: To Ctrl+Click on the arrowhead will not work; you have to click on the leader itself. "Quickly delete extra leaders: If you have multiple leaders attached to your multileader object, there are a number of clicks you must go through to delete them. Again, there is a keyboard trick to manage this. Simply hold down the Ctrl key and click once on the leader that you wish to delete. When it becomes highlighted, press the Delete key. "Note: This trick works for at least AutoCAD 2011 through 2013. In order for it to work, the system variable LEGACYCTRLPICK must be set to a value of 2." Notes from Cadalyst tip reviewer Brian Benton: Removing multileaders can take several clicks, so this tip can save you some time. The system variable LEGACYCTRLPICK can be set to either 0 or 2. By default it is set to 2. If set to 2, then the system variable SUBOBJSELECTIONMODE needs to be set to 0. If it is set to either 1, 2, 3, or 4, then it will not be necessary to hold down the Ctrl key to select the subobjects. |
