Zoom To, a powerful routine from Jan Bath, can be used for many things, but its primary purpose is to help you navigate through large AutoCAD files. The dialog interface can help you build a selection set of objects that the routine will then iterate one at a time, zooming to each entity location. At this point you can choose one or more actions to perform on the entity.
To use this routine, load it, then type ZT on the Command line. A dialog box will appear that includes several options, most of which have to do with the object type you want to find. There are options to select entities from the entire drawing or from within a user-defined selection set. You can also adjust the Zoom Window size. An optional part of this routine is the ability to perform editing operations on the entities it will find. For example, you could filter for lines and turn on the option to erase. After the dialog exits, you will be zoomed to each line in the selection set and then prompted whether or not to erase the line. This is just one of the many options available. When searching for text, you can specify a specific text string also. Good job, Jan. |
