Here is a fast way to slice a model in AutoCAD. In just a couple of clicks, it is done. This works in AutoCAD 2007 and higher versions.
For this tip to work correctly, you must be in a predefined orthographic view. In any view (even in perspective), you must be in the current UCS view.
- Activate the Slice command and select the solid to modify.
- Simply select two points defining where you want the slice. In this way, you will be setting a plane vertical to the screen, so after pressing Enter, you may select both or one of the portions.
Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: The Slice command is a quick and easy way to create a section or cut-away view of a solid.Be careful, it literally slices off the unwanted portion of your solid. If you want to make a special view, copy your object and save one for later.
