Use the LIT and LUT commands to isolate and unisolate layers.

Kent Cooper authored CAD Tip No. 3779, which is an improved Layer Isolate/Unisolate command for AutoCAD. Kent recently received a request to provide a similar routine that uses Freeze and Thaw instead of Off and On, and he has now shared it with us. After the LISP file is loaded, the command LIT is used to isolate layers, and the command LUT to used to unisolate layers. As with tip #3779, you can nest several layer isolates and undo each one with a corresponding LUT command. See Tip No. 3779 for more information.

Just a little explanation of the command names: LIT = Layer Isolate as to Thaw/freeze state only (see 3779 about what "only" means as compared to the way AutoCAD's LAYISO/LAYUNISO work); LUT = Layer Unisolate as to Thaw/freeze state only. (I used T for Thaw rather than F for Freeze because all Layers selected to be thus isolated are Thawed, and it's the UN-selected Layers that are frozen.)
