Store selected objects in a file on your clipboard viewer and use these files as needed to paste into your drawings.

The Command to run it is CLIPBRD  (type it in Windows Run)

If you are on a network and it does not work, then do as follows to get to the services: start….Run…. type services.msc press enter.  Services that you need to change to automatic:

Clipbook

Network dde

Network dde dsdm

Once they are all changed to automatic you can start the services for all three.

The command to run is still the same: CLIPBRD

When you want to use CTRL+C in AutoCAD, you can store selected objects in a file on your clipboard viewer and use these files as needed to paste (CTRL+V) into your drawings. This tip which will work in AutoCAD or any windows applications such as Word, Excel etc.

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol:  This tip works with both AutoCAD and MicroStation because it uses Windows-based keystroke shortcuts, and both MicroStation and AutoCAD run on top of Windows.  The tip allows you to control objects that you have copied with the Windows Copy feature, which is a manager.  This can be useful when you are working with multiple objects that you need to put in different places.  With this manager you can copy/paste more than one object at a time.  Len gave us instructions to make sure you have access to the Clipboard manager, but be careful when turning services on and off.  Perhaps you should check with your IT manager before you do this. Tested in AutoCAD 2009 and Windows XP.
