Change the text offset value to box text in a dimension.

Tipster Steve Matchett shows us how to draw a box around text in AutoCAD dimensions.

"Here is a simple tip for boxing text in a dimension. Select the dimensions you want to box, then change the text offset value under the Text dropdown menu in the Properties window to a negative value."

"I typically use –1/16"; the larger the fraction, the farther the box will be offset. Dimensions can all be selected together and edited together, and you can match properties between them."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton: This is a great little trick that works well. Multileaders have a Text Frame setting that will do this.

Another way to achieve the same thing is to turn on the "BASIC" tolerence option.

You can also select "Draw frame around text" in the Text tab of the Dimension Style setup, and "Frame text" of the Multileader Style dialog. You just don't get the offset option as far as I can see.
