Replace the erroneous text with the correct special characters.

Tipster Moshe Zadik shares a chart and method he uses for converting special characters that have been extracted from AutoCAD.

“I have created a detailed method which handles %999 ASCII fonts, mostly presented when using AutoCAD SHX font files. It is very annoying to get the %NNN text (which represents special characters) during extraction. Use the following formula in Excel to convert them to the proper characters.”

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton: This method may seem a bit complex, but I was able to get it to work. Special characters aren’t used all of the time, but if you use them you probably have run into this situation. Now you have a method that can help you deal with it.
