"Select a table and open the Properties Manager. Change the manual positioning and manual heights settings (shown in the image below) to Yes. This will allow you to use grips to move pieces of the table around for better placement on the drawing, and the table will still be one piece."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton: Grip editing anything can speed up your drawing and drafting processes quite a bit. This tip shows us an easy way to adjust the overall height of a table with grips. Open the Properties Manager (press Control+1) and select a table. Go to the table breaks section, where you will find the settings that control when a table will break and form to columns of tables. You can turn on the headers or footer (repeat labels, repeat bottom labels), enable table breaks, set the direction, and control the break height and spacing. If you set the height this way, then when the table reaches a certain height it will automatically break accordingly. Or you can turn on the manual positions and heights and adjust these settings via grips.
