You can change your AutoCAD table border settings to use tables for different purposes.

Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky shares a tip about how and when to make AutoCAD table borders invisible.

"Create a table and highlight it as shown in the picture below. Under cell border properties, select the last option, as shown here. That will make all borders invisible.

There are several ways in which to use your table. It can be used to create an abbreviation list used in a project (first in a spreadsheet and then imported into a table with invisible borders) or a legend (insert blocks in cells), for example."

Notes from Cadalyst tip reviewer Brian Benton: AutoCAD tables are easy to work with. They are very similar to Microsoft Excel tables. In this tip, you need to select the table you wish to change, then click in the upper left-hand box to select all of the table’s borders. In the Properties palette, go to the cell, border color field and click the ellipsis (the three dots at the right). That will bring up the cell border properties dialog window shown in the tip. The tip suggests clicking the open, or no border, box to make the borders invisible. You can also change the color of the borders this way, or the line weight, or the line type. Change the color and line setting to whichever color or line type you want, then click the appropriate border shape button. Click the button that looks like a plus sign to change the borders within the selected cells. Click the box shape to change only the outside border. Or click only the border lines as shown in the buttons around the preview to change specific borders of your selected cells.
