Tipster Marcel Revet sends us a method for adding a second line of text to dimensions.
"This tip helps add text to dimensions in multiple lines. I used this trick back when I was using AutoCAD 2005 and had forgotten about it until recently. This trick also works with AutoCAD 2008. Once you have made a dimension you can go to the property window and add text using the text override. To add a second line, enter a backslash with the letter P and add your next line of text. You can add more lines of text just by adding a backslash with the letter P after each sentence."
NOTES FROM CADALYST TIP PATROL: This is true. Add a backslash + P in the text field of a dimensions property manager. If you would rather edit dimension text in a text editor (just like the mtext editor) type ED on the command line and select the dimension. It will open the text editor for that dimension. You can over ride the dimension's text by deleting it in the editor. If you want to put the true dimension text back in, type the less-than sign, then the greater-than sign (<>) in either the property manager or in the text editor. |
