Select multiple files at once.

Tipster James J. Olszewski shares a trick that allows users to insert more than one xref file at a time in AutoCAD.

"Hard to believe after all these years, but I only recently discovered that indeed you can attach more than one xref at a time. All you have to do is select all the xrefs you want to attach (assuming you want to use the same insertion point, etc.), and go through the normal steps. Abracadabra — it's done!"

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton: It’s true! When you browse to the folder that contains your file, simply select more than one file. Press the Control key every time you select a file, or press and hold the Shift key, just as you would when selecting multiple objects in any Windows-based program. You will use all of the same insertion settings for each file referenced, but odds are you were going to anyway.

This trick is limited to one folder, though. You can’t choose some files in one folder, then browse to another. Picking files there will clear out the selection set you already established, unless there is a trick I don’t know about. This tip also works for any file type you might be referencing, but again, you must limit yourself to one file type at a time.
