Display Autodesk Inventor Dimensions as an Expression

This tip is very useful if you use parameters in your design.

This tip shows my favorite way to display dimensions in a sketch.

  • Open an existing part that has a dimensioned sketch, and activate the sketch.

  • Open Document settings and go to the Units tab. Note the five different ways you can display the dimensions in a sketch.

  • Check Display as expression, pick Apply and Close. Note added information in the dimension text field. This is very useful if you use parameters in your design.
