Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky sent us a tip on using the boundary of a hatch in AutoCAD.
"Sometimes hatching boundaries get erased, for one reason or another, but later on there may be a need to stretch hatching to increase or decrease the hatched area. Double-click on Hatching, and click the 'Recreate boundary' button in the dialog box to recreate the boundary for your hatching. Now you can modify your hatching — stretch it, use grips, etc. When you're finished, double-click on Hatching again, then click the 'Remove boundaries' button."
Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: Hatches have come a long way in AutoCAD. They used to be very difficult to work with, or even to create, but AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD 2011 both improved on previous versions' hatching abilities. Now you don't need a boundary to edit a hatch! Select it, then grip-edit the edges just like you would a polyline. Boundary or no boundary, you can stretch, move a vertex, add or remove a vertex, or make a lined edge into an arced edge. |
