Enable 3D viewing of objects in AutoCAD with one key and your mouse.

Tipster Eric Lawson explains how to quickly enable 3D viewing of objects in AutoCAD.

"My drafting partner discovered an easy, quick way of orbiting a 3D view. I expect many people already know this one, but for those who don't: Simply hold the Shift key while pressing the mouse wheel."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton: This is a very quick and easy way to 3D orbit your AutoCAD objects. Press and hold the Shift key while pressing your scroll wheel button on your mouse. While holding the key and button, move your mouse around. Moving left will rotate left; moving right will rotate right. Moving up and down will rotate up and down.

I agree, that this is an easy and quick way to orbit a 3D model, but in the current version of AutoCAD 2014, I have found that after doing this for a while it will eventually crash AutoCAD. I have sent the crash reports in and it is a known problem and as of yet the only work around it to use Orbit from the ribbon, toolbar or navication bar. David
