Tipster Perry Pattiz shares an AutoCAD osnap tip that will help you find the midpoint between two points without drawing construction lines. "I frequently want to move an item or draw a line halfway between two points and formerly would draw a construction line, pick the midpoint, and then erase the line afterwards. There is an object snap that is not on the selection list called m2p that directly selects a point midway between two other points. I created my own icon that works as an object snap and use it many times throughout the day." Notes from Cadalyst tip reviewer Brian Benton: The object snaps (osnaps) that aren't listed in the Drafting Settings Object Snap running osnaps settings (like M2P) are often forgotten. I, too, sometimes forget about them. If you don't know what they are or how to get to them, there are several methods. One method is to use the osnap toolbar or to use the osnap shortcut menu. To get to the osnap shortcut menu, press the Shift key and right-click. This brings up a long list of possible osnaps that you may not have known about. These extra osnaps will enable you to pick specific points without having to make construction lines. It also means you won't have to delete those construction lines later. They have the potential to save you a lot of picks and clicks. |
