Mechanical designer Brian James Lottis gives us a tip that can save you time and effort when using Windows shortcut keystrokes to copy your objects.

"Typically, we only think of using the clipboard to copy elements from one drawing to another. But here's a case where it really helps in a single drawing. It's like creating a temporary shortcut key. I often have a specific block (for example, an equipment callout tag) that I need to insert several times in a single drawing, but it's not always convenient to insert the blocks all at once with the Copy command. To avoid having to mouse over to the tool palette or our custom menus all the time, I'll copy that block into the clipboard with Ctrl+C. That way, any time I need to insert that block, I simply use Ctrl+V to paste it again. You can also use Ctrl+Shift+C to pick a specific insertion point if necessary. If you are using this with a block, I'd recommend not using Ctrl+Shift+V to paste it, since that will create a block nested in another block."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: Anything that we can do to make our work easier is a great idea. It is very easy to hold down the Ctrl key, press a quick C, and then a quick V (while still holding Ctrl.) This can be faster than finding the Copy command in the ribbon (or toolbar) and even quicker than typing in the command alias of C, followed by Enter.
