Use grips to move blocks, multi-line text, single-line text, or dimensions.

Senior Drafter Roger Carter reminds us to use grips for quick editing in AutoCAD.

"Using grips to manipulate entities is a technique that's under-utilized by many CAD users. You can use it like you would the Move command to move blocks, multi-line text, single-line text, or dimensions (it works better if they are associative). Depending on how you have set your osnap commands, you can manipulate lines just like using the Extend or Trim commands."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: Editing with grips is a must. Grips can take the place of many editing tools, depending on the types of objects you are manipulating. Lines can be moved, stretched, lengthened, or shortened. You can even rotate them by moving one endpoint to a different location. Polylines can be grip-edited in special ways too. You can add or remove a vertex, stretch, move, or convert a line to an arc (or an arc to a line). You can do the same thing with hatches! Grip-editing saves time and effort.

A feature that i have found very useful is that the text in attributed blocks can be moved using grips without exploding the block itself.
