This routine from Matt Sibum enables you to create layers from text objects in AutoCAD. The program uses the string of text as the layer name, and optionally the color and linetype assigned to the text object as properties of the new layer also. Start by loading the LISP file, then type in the command LC. The first prompt asks whether you want to create just the layer names or use the other properties as well. Select the text objects and the layers will be created. If you choose to use all the properties, make sure to assign a specific color and linetype to the text objects. The program will not work if those properties are set to Bylayer. |
