Right-click, hold, drag, and release to perform these functions.

Tipster Aaron Ollero demonstrates a method in AutoCAD to execute a move, copy, or paste as block function with a minimal number of clicks.

"There are many ways to perform the following commands. To run the commands by choosing an option, select the objects you want to move, copy, or paste as a block. After selecting, right-click and hold, then drag to any location. It will give you the following options:

  • Move here.
  • Copy here.
  • Paste as block."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton: This tip is very simple: simply select, right-click, hold, drag, and release. One drawback is that this method can be difficult to copy/move/paste accurately. You can't use osnaps, or even running osnaps. Your base point will be wherever your crosshairs are when you right-click on the object, and your move/copy/paste point will be wherever your pointer is when you release.
