With Shift+Spacebar, you can toggle through the overlapping objects and select the correct object.

Bram Van Haren sends us advice about selecting objects when they are stacked on top of each other or are overlapping.

"You can try to use the Draw Order command, but that can be difficult if there are several objects in one place. With the combination Shift+Spacebar, you can toggle through the overlapping objects and select the correct object very easily. Hover your cursor over the overlapping objects, hold down the Shift key, and press the spacebar until the object you want appears highlighted."

That's an excellent, albeit little-known, tip. I find the need to release the mouse to hold down the Shift and press the Spacebar a bit disconcerting - and the mouse will sometimes drift - so I have set my LEGACYCTRLPICK to <1>, which enables the old fashioned method of holding down the Control key before clicking on overlapping lines to cycle between those objects.
