Adjust Edgemode variable to improve use of Trim and Extend commands.

Crystal Bresley sends us a tip on using the Edgemode setting to better use the Trim and Extend commands. "If the Edgemode variable is set to 0 you cannot extend or trim lines, using the Extend or Trim commands, that do not intersect. AutoCAD will tell you, 'Object does not intersect an edge.'

"If the Edgemode variable is set to 1 you can extend and trim lines that do not intersect. AutoCAD uses an invisible extension of the line to trim or extend your line."

NOTES FROM CADALYST TIP PATROL: Edgemode comes set to 0 out of the box. Many times you need to trim or extend lines that don’t actually interest each other but would if they were extended. Setting Edgemode to 1 can really be a time saver. You don’t have to extend lines, especially if you don’t want them there.
